Key learning points:

  1. Tendinitis is an overused outdated term as we know inflammation doesn’t drive the pathology. We now call these conditions ‘tendinopathy.

  2. A tendon attaches muscle to bone. The big 3 in the lower limb are the achillies, patellar, and gluteal tendons.

  3. There’s a big difference between a normal tendon and a pathological tendon.

  4. Tendon degeneration does not affect the whole tendon but rather a section of it. The degeneration is surrounded by normal tendon.
